We hosted our first Volunteer open morning at The Hunslet Club in March. Alex Erdinc, our volunteer coordinator, organised this event to ensure people in the local community can have insight into how volunteering can benefit your well-being and helps add skills to your CV.
Follow our volunteer Facebook page to be the first to know when our next volunteer open day is.

Roll up, roll up for the Future Cheer, Circus Spectacular! Future Cheer helps develop and expand the UK cheer and dance industry, and in March, The Hunslet Club Emeralds took to the stage to perform, coming away with multiple awards!
We have seen the time, dedication, and determination that everyone puts in at each session at The Hunslet Club, and we are incredibly proud of everyone that took part.

Young people need a voice, and we are always happy to support new ideas and suggestions. In March, The Hunslet Club had their first youth ambassador meeting, where our young people discussed new ideas, what they love about The Hunslet Club and what they would like to see here.

Gemma and Olivia from the British Red Cross visited our junior youth club in March to discuss first aid. They brought along Ron, the CPR dummy, who is truly an asset to the team.

Our youth clubs introduced a new timetable in March. This change came from the needs and wants of our youth club attendees.
With this new timetable, we can tailor each session depending on what our young people want. For example, we have started to do more cooking sessions in our senior youth club, as they expressed wanting more food options.
One in four households with children experienced food insecurity in September 2022 – affecting approximately four million children. We want to help tackle this with our free youth club cooking sessions.
Other activities include creative arts and crafts, hair and beauty salon sessions, themed days, and more.
The Hunslet Club is always incredibly thankful for any donation; it all goes to the people who matter the most – the children in South Leeds.
Kelly, The Morrisons Hunslet Community Champion, a generous and consistent supporter of The Hunslet Club, donated a bag full of Easter Eggs for our Easter Party.
In March, Greencore also donated a wide collection of Easter Eggs. These Easter eggs will mean so much to the young people who will receive them for free on Sunday, 9th April 2023.

We love having guest speakers at The Hunslet Club, including the Street Doctors, who have visited us on multiple occasions. They came to talk to our senior youth club, and the amazing team from Street Doctors taught them some lifesaving skills.
The Street Doctors are inspirational speakers, as they talked to our senior youth club on a peer-to-peer level. We are incredibly thankful for the Street Doctors who go out of their way to ensure young people have lifesaving skills.

We ended the month on a high as we hosted our third social action project, where we invited local care home residents over for an arts and crafts evening with our senior youth club.
It was a heart-warming evening, ending with our senior youth club singing to Emma, a care home resident who turned 96 on Sunday, 2nd April.
We have a jam-packed timetable for April!
As mentioned in The Hunslet Club March Newsletter 2023, we have had some amazing guest speakers. Our guest speakers come into our youth clubs to give presentations and practical sessions to our young people. Please contact our team today if you or your business would like to come in and talk to our young people about something that can benefit them.
