If you’re looking for a place that welcomes young people on an evening after school for free you are welcome to attend Junior YouthClub (ages 8 to 12) or our open Access Youth Club (Year 8+). These run from Monday to Friday every week! Make sure to check our live timetable to stay updated with session times.
We have a wide range of activities and events for all attendees to take part in as they please. The activities on offer help young people learn new skills as well as build confidence and resilience for the future. It offers an opportunity to try new things while gaining life and career advice. Most importantly, it is a place where you can have fun and spend time with friends, without having to participate in anything else if you do not want to. Furthermore, it is a great way to get involved in the club and form a fun social group outside of school. If you’re curious about our activities or just want to get a feel for our building, you can always come along to youth club and check it out with no membership or booking needed.
The youth club main area has a games room equipped with the latest Xbox and PlayStation games. A wide range of table games; pool tables, table tennis, air hockey and foosball. We also offer space for more physical sports such as the main hall and football pitches. Next to our main area, youth club also makes use of a range of different facilities to host workshops including a gym that is free to all attendees, a kitchen, a beauty room, IT suite and sports hall.
As always, our staff and volunteers are always on hand to make sure everyone makes the most of the sessions. As a result members feel safe and supported. Furthermore, all staff and volunteers are fully DBS checked
We asked our members why they love coming to Youth Club and here is what they said:
“This is where I feel safe and I have met some nice friends. You can have a laugh with the staff too”
“I feel more grown up at Youth Club”. “All the staff are friendly and fun and have a laugh”
“It’s somewhere to come with my friends and enjoy being away from my mum and dad”
“Hunslet Club means a lot to me. It helps me stay out of trouble and It’s where I can make friends and help young people like me.”
Volunteering and Careers
Youth Club has a volunteers programme. This is for seniors (year 8+) only. It’s a great way to get workplace experience, take on responsibility and add to your CV. In addition to this, all youth club attendees are welcome to have one to ones with our qualified youth workers. These one to ones can cover a wide range of topics such as worries related to work, family life or school, which might be preventing young people from reaching their full potential. We also have a ‘Job Shop’ session where you can learn all things workplace, personal statements, job interviews and life skills. As volunteer you can:
Help out during club events such as the summer gala.
Help lead junior youth sessions.
Take on leadership and independent roles appointed by youth club staff.
To become a youth volunteer simply ask one of our youth workers during youth club or Email: Dhall@hunsletclub.org.uk
What To Wear?
Whatever you feel most comfortable in! We recommend loose clothing that is easy to move around in for activities.
