Friends & Former Members
For generations, from the early days of World War II right up to the present day, thousands of young people have benefited from the opportunities and activities that The Hunslet Club has had to offer. We are always pleased to learn how former members and friends are doing and would like to offer the opportunity to keep you up to date with current club news, catch up with old mates and maybe even organise some proper get-together events.
Joining the Former Members & Friends Association is free and you will receive occasional newsletters as well as invitations to upcoming events.
Of course you don’t have to be a former member to join, we welcome parents, supporters and indeed anyone with an interest in keeping up to date with what is happening at the club.

Did anyone see themselves featured on BBC Look North recently when we found long lost historic film footage under the club stage? Have a look and see if you were on it!

One former member who came to the club during the 1980's went on to become the clubs arguably most famous ex-member. Jason Robinson grew up in South Leeds and attended the Hunslet Club as a child, first playing for the club junior rugby team before later becoming an English international rugby union and rugby league player, winning the World Cup in 2003 and captaining the national side in 2005. Playing at wing or fullback, he won fifty-one rugby union international test caps in total for England, and in rugby league he won twelve caps for Great Britain and seven for England.
In his autobiography, Robinson wrote: "The club gave us an outlet for the energy kids have to burn. I don't know what I would have done without it in the evenings and at weekends.” He recalled his time at the club when he was welcomed back to open new facilities at the club in 2011, which can be seen in the video below.
