Irish Night Raises £2,557 - Thanks Everyone!
As the headline reads you'll be pleased to learn that our Irish Night raised £2,557 to send Megan & Shannon to the World Irish Dance Championships in Philadelphia. Over 200 people packed out the club for our emerald isle celebration evening which included seeing the girls give a preview of their upcoming world class performance in America alongside our very own Richie O'Coy who one generous supporter paid £200 at the auction to see him show us his dance moves! Megan says - "I think its great that more than 200 people came to raise money to help me and Shannon go to America. I would like to say thanks to all the people that have supported us and have helped us raise funds especially to all the staff at the Hunslet Club that have supported us and also, to my Auntie Mary my teacher, I couldn't have done it without you."
Shannon says - "Thanks to everyone involved for helping make my dream come true by enabling me to get to Philadelphia. I would particularly like to thank all of the people who turned up last Friday for their generous support, all of the people at the Hunslet Club for organising such a successful night and finally I want to thank my Dance Teacher Mary Wright for her dedication and guidance".
Their dance teacher Mary says - “What can I say, what a fantastic Evening, I was amazed by the amount of people that turned out to support the girls. I would like to say a special thank you to all the staff at the Hunslet Club for making the Evening such a success, Richie O'Coy for being a great sport, also a big thank you to Ballyhoo, who gave up there time for us, all the parents and dancers of the school and everyone that donated to the Auction and Raffle. I am sure the girls will make us very proud. Best of Luck to Megan and Shannon and thank you to everyone that supported us."
Megan’s mum Sarah said "I think its fantastic that over 200 people bought tickets, to support Megan and Shannon, it just goes to show what great support we have received, I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who came on the night to support the girls, I would also, like to say thank you to all the staff at the club for all there hard work and support and for making the night a success. Also thanks to Mary, all the dancers and parents for there support too."
Shannon’s father Paddy said "Ally and I would echo Shannon's comments. We are both exceedingly proud of Shannon and owe an immense debt of gratitude to everyone involved at the Hunslet Club and to those who turned out last Friday. The night was a great success. We are also very grateful to Mary Wright for identifying and nurturing her talent to get her to Philadelphia. We are sure that Shannon will make them all proud of her on the 6th April."
