VOCATIONAL TRAINING

The Hunslet Club delivers daytime courses leading to accredited vocational qualifications in vehicle maintenance, construction, hair and beauty, sport, ICT, key skills, catering, dance and music production to young people aged 14 to 16. The courses vary between a few weeks and 2 years in length. Hundreds of young people have successfully achieved accredited qualifications and then progressed into further learning or work. In the last academic year alone, 380 pupils referred from almost forty high schools gained an average of 4 qualification certificates each.

We aim to deliver a quality learning experience in an environment that is welcoming and safe. We not only provide the knowledge and skills required to succeed in an educational setting, we also teach the social skills needed to survive in the workplace.

We are a registered learning centre with City & Guilds, OCR, OCNW, OCN, VTCT, ABC Awards and ASDAN. We are an approved provider for Education Leeds and have also formed successful partnerships with the Youth Service, Probation Service, Youth Offending Team and Leeds United Football Club.

The Club is committed to developing its vocational learning programme and offering opportunities for all young people irrespective of circumstance both educationally or socially.

Courses

Courses are offered by the Club in various vocational and non vocational subjects, and are available subject to appropriate learner numbers. It is envisaged that learners attending for a full day would choose between two subjects from a group area and would swap between them at lunch time. Learners may also attend single sessions if this is more appropriate for them.

How to apply

We will consider all applications from people who are enthusiastic and willing to learn new skills. To apply for a course please contact us on 0113 2716489 and request an application form.

Once we have processed the application we will invite the learner for an interview to assess their suitability for the course. We will explain to them the details of the course and outline the standards we expect from them. We aim to inform promptly after the interview whether an application has been successful. All successful candidates will receive details of their commencement date, timetable and induction process.
